From July 13 to 18, 2026, the Faculty of Energy and Fuels hosted the Energy Transition Summer School, an international initiative organised jointly by AGH University of Krakow and the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam, with the generous support of Shell.
Bringing together students from Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Ukraine, France, Italy, and Greece, the summer school established an ideal forum for cross-cultural exchange, knowledge sharing, and diverse perspectives on the global energy transition. The comprehensive curriculum comprised interactive workshops, panel debates, sessions on energy systems modelling, and discussions focused on innovation and international collaboration.
Participants also had the opportunity to showcase their own research during a poster session complemented by short presentations. The presented posters addressed a wide range of cutting-edge topics, including Methanol as a Pathway for Hydrogen, Rheological Characterization and CFD Modelling of Lubrication Grease for Wind Turbine Blade Bearings, Analysis of Trace Contaminants in Gas-to-Liquid Byproducts, Photocatalytic CO₂ Reduction in Molecular Systems, and Exergy Academia. This session provided students with an invaluable platform to share findings, exchange insights, and engage in constructive dialogue with peers and energy sector experts.
Beyond the academic agenda, social integration formed a vital component of the programme. Activities included sports events, a student gathering at the AGH Studio Club, guided sightseeing in Krakow, and an excursion to Zakopane featuring a technical tour of a local geothermal heating plant.
The summer school concluded with a collaborative review of the acquired knowledge and experiences, followed by a farewell dinner. Ultimately, the Energy Transition Summer School served as an outstanding opportunity to deepen understanding of the future of energy, develop practical skills, highlight student research, and forge lasting international connections among emerging leaders in energy transition.
